The Community Advancement Network is proud to welcome Charlie Schwedler as its new director. He began the transition over the summer and took the reins in early August.

The Community Advancement Network strives to strengthen non-profit organizations in the Great Lakes Bay Region through capacity building services that enhance effectiveness and efficiency.

This program of United Way of Midland County is a collaborative partnership with the regional Community Foundations and fellow United Way’s, with foundational support provided by The Dow Chemical Company.

The Network has aligned with regional businesses, universities, foundations, non-profits and consultants to remove barriers and provide customized solutions, creating greater impact on those served by local non-profits.

Charlie Schwedler is a long time educator who has dedicated his talents and energies to ensuring a quality education for students of all backgrounds. His leadership experiences in educational administration, his knowledge of the Great Lakes Bay Region and his ability to unify people to reach common goals made him a perfect candidate.

Charlie serves on numerous boards and committees, including: Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Great Lakes Bay Region and Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works He is a graduate of Bay City All Saints High School, Michigan State University and Central Michigan University.

The 2007 MASSP High School Principal of the Year, Schwedler became Superintendent of Bullock Creek Schools in 2010 after 16 years as Bullock Creek’s High School Principal. He and his wife Susan reside in Bullock Creek and are the proud parents of their two grown ‘Creekers’ Kevin (Leann) and Sarah (Matt) Fogal.
