INVESTING IN RECOVERY

To date we have invested $2,100,589 in short and long term recovery efforts providing stable housing solutions, restoring access to water, rebuilding and repairing homes, and distributing household necessities.

House in a Box Kits
$125,000
50 House in Box Kits were purchased to provide families with essential home items including beds, living and dining room furniture, full kitchen and bathroom equipment and more. Saving families $58,000.

Water Restoration

In partnership with Home to Stay and the City, United Way has provided financial assistance to 64 households, hooking them up to city water. This provided quick relief, sustainable water and kept them in their homes, saving us dollars for rehousing.

Housing Assistance

In partnership with Home To Stay, United Way has provided 72 families with financial help alongside case management. This includes up to 6 months of rent and help with security deposits.

Revitalization & Rebuild

Together with Habitat for Humanity we are leveraging local and national relationships to rebuild and repair homes. To date, two homes have are complete with others underway.

Recovery Projects

Together with the Long Term Disaster Recovery Group we have invested in current and upcoming repair projects for 76 homes including 47 in Sanford and 29 in Midland.

LEVERAGING IN-KIND DONATIONS

Through leveraging donations of basic need items, household items, building supplies, appliances and so much more we have been able to stretch local dollars and invest them in additional recovery efforts.

Basic Needs

We’ve collected and distributed food, laundry vouchers, tools, personal care items, cleaning supplies and more. In addition, we’ve partnered with Senior Services to provide high-quality meals delivered to survivors living in hotels.

Appliances
$500,000
Appliances are expensive and hard to get in a Covid-19 environment. In partnership with Whirlpool, we hosted two discounted appliance sales, saving our neighbors over $500,000.

Building Supplies
$1,000,000
To date, we have coordinated over $1 million in donated drywall, siding, insulation, paint, adhesives and more. This stretches our local dollars further and lessens burdens for local families. Supplies have been deployed regionally and to local businesses to support rebuild efforts

VOLUNTEERS LENDING A HAND

Over the last year volunteers have shown up from across the community, state and country. Jumping in to muck out, remove debris, paint and rebuild homes. These thousands of helping hand continue to provide hope and healing.
