United Way of Midland County set a goal to raise $4.6 million during their annual community campaign to support the vital programs and services provided by their 24 nonprofit partners. At the end of campaign season, they were just shy of their goal, raising an incredible $4.55 million.
After receiving an update on campaign results, a group of community leaders came together to fill the $45,000 gap, ensuring that United Way met their campaign goal.
“Receiving that phone call was just another reminder of what an amazing and supportive community we call home,” shared Holly Miller, President and CEO at United Way. “This community is a special place, and we are blessed to have leaders who see the importance of the impact that we collectively create. This campaign was filled with inspiration and hope, as support came from every corner of the community. These additional gifts are on top of already generous investments. Their commitment to United Way and our partners is a beautiful illustration of how this community continues to show up to support one another and how vitally important it is to invest local dollars into local programs and solutions.”
The 2024 campaign was led by Tim Lacey and a team of incredible volunteers who served on this year’s campaign cabinet. Tim’s commitment and care for this community was woven through every interaction he had with his team at DuPont, with the Campaign Cabinet and within the community as he advocated for United Way and the people they serve.
“We are so incredibly grateful for Tim’s leadership throughout this campaign season,” shared Miller. “He poured his heart and soul into leading the way. Not only did he rally the campaign cabinet, but he also took the time to better understand the work of our partners so he could authentically advocate for their collective work. His leadership was intentional, informational and inspiring and because of him, more people are aware of the issues this community faces and how we can make positive changes by investing with our hearts, hands and heads. His leadership has inspired so many to get involved and to give a little more to get us across the finish line.”
Because of this group of anonymous leaders, United Way partners will receive funding in addition to the allocations they were awarded earlier this year. These dollars will help fill funding gaps ensuring the nearly 60 community programs United Way dollars support continue to be available to our neighbors when they need them most.
“Reflecting on our journey over the past four months, I am reminded that the decision to invest in United Way truly begins with the spirit of ‘togetherness.’ And here we are together,” shared Tim Lacey, 2024 United Way Campaign Chair. “Thanks to our shared passion and the profound generosity of our community, we have successfully raised $4.6 million. Reaching our campaign goal not only strengthens our partner agencies but also empowers them to create transformative experiences that lead to meaningful outcomes. This experience has reminded me that no gift is too small, and it is through our collective generosity that we can make a lasting impact.”
United Way shared that now more than ever, coming together to support our local community is vital. During uncertain times, vulnerable populations are often more significantly impacted. From basic needs, reading resources, affordable housing and childcare, to safety and shelter, programs that provide health and human service resources need to be a priority to ensure the people who live in a community and are cared for and supported.
“We are committed to creating stability by bringing local people, nonprofits and businesses together to create local impact on our most pressing human service needs,” shared Miller. “The generosity of these leaders greater solidifies the importance of investing in our community and I’m so grateful to live in a place where showing up for one another isn’t a question, it’s a guarantee.”
