Congratulations. As a nation, we have not only endured the hottest year on record, but survived the much-anticipated “End of the World.” Not every generation will be able to make that claim.

As we turn the calendar to January, we look back to what we learned and jump into the new year with a renewed optimism and excitement for what’s to come and the possibilities.

United Way is thrilled to launch our new website. Not only have we created a more streamlined and organized look, but our new site is smart phone compatible, enabling you to stay connected beyond the home and office.

We listened to you when you told us how much you enjoyed hearing how people’s lives are being touched and the impact of your support. The home page now features those personal stories and celebrates the people who are making a difference in the lives of strangers.

We know that you like choices in communication. That’s why you’ll find direct links to our Social Media. Our up-to-the-minute news and happenings are also front and center, along with community statistics about needs and impact.

As an organization, we are also excited about our new “Turning Outward” focus. We’re committed to learning more about people’s aspirations and what kind of community they want to live in. That means we will be spending time this year listening to you, finding out what you value, where you want to go and why. This is important work and will create the framework for making community decisions and building a shared purpose.

In the words of the lovable Dr. Seuss: “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” Bring it on 2013!
