United Way Campaign Surpasses $3 Million Mark; The Community Continues to Press Forward Toward Goal.

The community’s generosity continues to shine as United Way of Midland County wraps up Week 7 of its annual campaign. To date, pledges total $3,185,424, representing 72% of the $4.4 million goal. United Way is encouraged by the growing engagement from individuals, retirees, businesses, and nonprofits, all uniting to create lasting change across Midland County.

Small businesses, including Irish’s Barber Shop and Serendipity Road, are showing their community support through corporate gifts and fun events. Serendipity Road is engaging customers in their “State of Copper” Raffle – tickets can be purchased for $5 at their downtown shop for a chance to win a one-of-a-kind handcrafted piece of art.

Earlier this week, President & CEO Holly Miller and 2025 Campaign Co-Chair Yvonne Fisher were joined at Noon Rotary by Joe Coffey from Home to Stay, Joe Blewett from Family and Children’s Services, Ellen Lynch from Shelterhouse, Pesi Kennett from Midland County Food Assistance Network, Cailey Brown from Midland Child Advocacy Center, Jennifer Grace from Arnold Center, Becky Gaskin from American Red Cross, Melissa Murray from The Salvation Army, Sam McKenzie from Hidden Harvest and Chiara Cameron-Wood from 211 of Northeast Michigan. Partners shared the inspiring ways they collaborate to meet the needs of our neighbors and find creative solutions to solve community issues.

In addition to sharing their voices, non-profits and their teams continue to show up to ensure those they serve have access to critical resources. Senior Services, The Arc of Midland, Midland Child Advocacy Center and West Midland Family Center have all wrapped up their campaigns with The Arc, Midland CAC and West Midland increasing their campaigns by 25% and securing the new Dow match dollars.

Deloitte will be joined by United Way staffers to celebrate their campaign kickoff next week with a lunchtime trivia game and presentation. Giving employees the opportunity to learn more about United Way’s pillars of Youth Opportunity, Financial Security, Healthy Community and Community Resiliency.

The City of Midland and Three Rivers Corporation continue to build momentum in their campaigns. Three Rivers is creating excitement by offering weekly raffles for items including a Traeger Grill, outdoor heaters, TVs and more. While the City is hosting a 50/50 raffle and engaging employees in a community kit build during their upcoming in-service day.

Other workplaces kicking off soon include Dow Credit Union, Tri-Star Trust, Sym Financial, Great Lakes Bay Construction and SSOE.

In addition to the campaign, United Way offers opportunities to learn about the issues our neighbors face. On November 13th they will host the United for ALICE Summit at The H. The summit will bring together non-profits, businesses, foundations and the community for a regional event to share the 2025 ALICE Report, explore innovative solutions for employers, and provide calls to action to drive local and statewide impact for our ALICE neighbors.

Panelists and presenters will include Kim Trent, Deputy Director for Prosperity for the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, Bobby Dorigo Jones from Michigan Association of United Ways, Carrie Iafrate from Members First Credit Union, Shelly Raube from Delta College, Alicia Guevara Warren from Early Childhood Investment Corporation, Sarah Kile from Michigan 211 as well as representatives from MyMichigan Health, Hemlock Semiconductor, Consumers Energy and Michigan Works!
