As the third week of the United Way campaign comes to a close, the community continues to show its generous support. They are reporting pledges totaling $2,066,220, representing 47% of the overall campaign goal of $4.4 million.
“Being part of the United Way campaign is about more than raising dollars. It’s about showing up for one another as a community,” shared J.W. and Yvonne Fisher, 2025 United Way Campaign Chairs. “When we engage, we help ensure that children, families, and neighbors have access to the support they need to thrive. United Way makes it possible for each of us to contribute, whether through our time, resources, or voices. Together, those efforts create lasting change. Every act of engagement, big or small, adds up to a stronger, more connected community.”
The fun continues across the county as more organizations participate in the campaign and learn how their investment makes an impact. The County of Midland launched their employee giving campaign this week with a variety of engaging ways their team can join in, including a raffle for extra time off, 50/50, gift basket auction, and coin wars. Garber Chevrolet has also launched its campaign, engaged its employees and donating a generous corporate gift.
West Midland Family Center wrapped up their employee campaign, raising over $12,000 to support our neighbors. Other United Way partner agencies, including The ROCK Center for Youth Development, Salvation Army, Senior Services, Midland Child Advocacy Center, and Shelterhouse, are all participating in the campaign through employee donations and creative special events. Greater Midland Community Center will kick off their campaign next week.
Huntington Bank shows its support through a generous corporate gift, investing $20,000 in vital community programs. Capital Power has been a long-time supporter of United Way, this year contributing a generous corporate donation of $10,000 to support our neighbors.
In the coming weeks, many other companies, nonprofits, businesses and foundations will be showing their support for United Way and their partners, including G.E. Insulation Co., Three Rivers Corporation, Meijer, Costco, Dendritech, SSOE and Case Systems.
United Way’s issue area focus this week is stable housing – a vital basic need that every individual and family deserves to have.
“Our vision is that every individual and family has access to safe, stable, and affordable housing,” shared Holly Miller, President & CEO of United Way of Midland County. “Right now, we’re facing a housing crisis – not just in Midland, but across the nation. Without a secure place to call home, families face a ripple effect of challenges, from accessing healthy food and reliable childcare to transportation and employment. The stress of housing instability also takes a toll on mental health, and for children, it can affect learning and success in school. United Way is proud to work with its partner agencies Home to Stay, Habitat for Humanity, Affordable Housing Alliance, as well as many other community partners, to find solutions and create lasting change.”
Stable Housing is one of the sixteen issue areas that United Way of Midland County focuses on. In Midland County, over 47% of local renters are cost-burdened, spending more than 30% of their income on housing. Last year, over 715 individuals/families were provided with urgent repairs or resources to maintain stable housing.
