Midland County is a place where people care about each other. We have a long history of coming together to meet the needs of our friends and neighbors.
On April 9th, United Way will bring our community together at the Great Hall for the sixth annual Spirit of the Community Celebration. This exciting event honors the many ways that individuals and organizations are lending their time, talents, voices and hearts to create a better and stronger community. This year’s event will be emceed by Sid Allen, Past President of the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce.
“I am honored to serve as this year’s emcee,” shared Sid. “This heartwarming community event celebrates LIVING UNITED and the incredible ways people and organizations are coming together for impact and change right here in Midland County.”
The following individuals will be honored on April 9th at the 2015 Spirit of the Community Celebration:
Charles J. Strosacker Award: Greg Dorrien, West Midland Family Center
Heart of the Community Award: Kevin Kendrick, Dow Corning Corporation
Heart of the Community Legacy Award: Rev. Wallace Mayton III, Memorial Presbyterian Church
Shining Star Award: Great Start Collaborative
Torch Bearer Award: Joe Sova, City of Midland
Torch Bearer Legacy Award: Dave and Patti Kepler, community advocates
Young Leader Award: Michael Rogers, Chemical Bank
2015 Caring Company of the Year: Members First Credit Union

Tickets are $25.00 per person or $250 for a reserved table for 10. The event begins at 7:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception and hors d’oeuvres. The awards presentation starts promptly at 7:30 p.m. and will conclude by 8:30 p.m. Everyone from our community is invited to join in honoring these inspirational community heroes.
