The United Way of Midland County invites the community to join them on Earth Day, April 22, to help prepare Camp Neyati for the 2025 camping season.
“We’re excited to once again bring community members up to camp to assist with these projects to prepare Camp for the season,” said Megan Crockett, Volunteer Manager at United Way of Midland County. “The camp is a beautiful place that offers valuable opportunities for kids and families to play, learn, and connect with each other and nature. To reach our goal of refreshing the camp, we need 100 volunteers, and everyone is invited to join us!”
Companies, organizations, work groups, service clubs and individuals are all encouraged to join United Way to help make an impact. The projects will help get camp ready for the upcoming camping season with fresh paint and stain, cleaning cabins and buildings, outdoor cleanup and more!
Volunteers are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather and the activities, layers are recommended. United Way encourages volunteers to bring supplies like gloves, painting supplies or anything else that would make volunteers comfortable and successful for completing the tasks.
Two volunteer shifts will be available each day, 9am – Noon and 1pm – 4pm. Lunch, volunteer t-shirts, supplies and tools will also be provided by United Way. A pizza lunch will be served from noon – 1pm and all volunteers are invited to join. Snacks and water will be provided throughout the day.

ABOUT CAMP NEYATI
Camp Neyati was acquired in 1938 by United Way of Midland County and Kiwanis Club of Midland for the purpose of encouraging wholesome development of youth in the Midland area through camping and outdoor experiences. Thousands of children and families have created lasting memories at Camp Neyati, at the 187-acre camp on the shores of Crooked Lake.
From sailing and swimming to campfires and learning archery skills, the camp has been a favorite resource for many local and regional groups who are looking for a beautiful, safe and diverse camp to provide unique programming.
“Over the 84 years that Camp Neyati has welcomed kids and families, countless memories have been created,” said Holly Miller, President and CEO of United Way of Midland County. “And there are many more to come. Every volunteer will play a crucial role in giving local youth the chance to experience the magic of camp – learning new skills, making lasting friendships, and enjoying the outdoors during the summer. The impact is truly meaningful, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who joins us on Earth Day to help make the camp a beautiful and safe place for all.”
