Midland County is a place where people care about each other. The 2014 United Way campaign was a great illustration of that compassion and caring, as we came together to raise $4,915,186 to meet the needs throughout Midland County.

The Board of Directors held their annual meeting on March 10th at the Strosacker Building. In addition to celebrating the many impacts taking place in our community, the board took pleasure in announcing that Jim Nigro, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at McKay Press, will serve as the Campaign Chair for the 2015 United Way of Midland County campaign.

“Jim is a true community advocate and has been an incredible supporter of United Way and our community for years,” shared Ann Fillmore, Executive Director of United Way of Midland County. “His passion, creativity and genuine care for others shine through in everything he does.”

The board also recognized outgoing board members Jennifer Holzinger, John Kessler, Selina Tisdale and Linda Lipsitt.  Current board members who committed to a second three-year term are Cliff Block, Kent Holsing, Jerry Ladwig, Shawn Pnacek and Rob Vallentine.

Four new board members were elected, including: Len Amat with Chemical Bank, Sarah Opperman from Opperman Consulting, LLC, Michael Sharrow from Midland Public Schools and Brian Marinik from Dow Corning Corporation.

The Officers for 2015 were elected as well, including: Rob Vallentine, President; Bill Bateman, Vice President; Jerry Ladwig, Treasurer; Wally Mayton, Secretary; and Sid Allen, Past President.

“This past year has been very transformative and exciting for United Way and our community, shared Sid Allen. “We continue to shine a light on the issues we face and celebrate the incredible ways that lives are being changed.”
