United Way of Midland County is excited to announce the honoree of the 2023 Charles J. Strosacker Award – Kim Stuhler, Associate Director of Community Impact at United Way of Midland County.
The Charles J. Strosacker Award recognizes individuals from a United Way or a partner agency for their contributions in promoting the well-being of Midland County Residents. Nominees are recognized for their leadership, impact, compassion and innovation. It embodies characteristics celebrated by Charles Strosacker himself: a spirit of leadership within our community, showing compassion for those less fortunate and an innovative spirit.
“It’s such an honor to recognize our compassionate and caring team member, Kim,” shared Holly Miller, President and CEO of United Way of Midland County. “She is truly an unsung hero in the nonprofit community. Kim is a quiet leader and works tirelessly to ensure the people in our community are well cared for. To say she is deserving of this award and recognition is an understatement. We remain grateful to our friends at The Charles J. Strosacker Foundation for their vision and support of this important award.”
Kim Stuhler has been with United Way for over 20 years, working toward their mission of bringing the community together to improve lives.
Miller shared, “we celebrated Kim’s twentieth work anniversary last year with folks from our team and partner agencies. I asked the group to go around and share a word that describes Kim. Helpful, patient, committed, loyal, kind, connector, organized and our favorite, herder-of-cats, were all shared. These and so many more words ring true every day that Kim shows up for our community, our partners, coworkers and her family.”
Kim has been involved in the community impact space at United Way her entire career. She works closely with United Way’s partner agencies, guiding them and the volunteer reviewers through the allocation process each year. She leads the EFSP funding for Midland County and serves as a connector, sitting on many community collaboratives.
Colleague Donna St. John from Home to Stay nominated Kim for this award and shared “Kim is highly efficient and uses her organizational gifts to help others and make things better across the board. She keeps things running smoothly. Kim is the support behind new ideas, programs, and initiatives and pulls together the framework necessary to reach the next level. She is a rock star.”
The United Way team, Board of Directors and partner agencies celebrated Kim on Wednesday at a luncheon hosted at Delta College in Downtown Midland. The outpouring of support was a true testament to Kim’s impact.
“Congratulations to Kim Stuhler for her dedication and hard work,” shared Kim Baczewski, President and CEO of The Charles J. Strosacker Foundation. “She exemplifies the very best of leadership in our community. We are proud to recognize her as the 2023 Charles J. Strosacker Award honoree.”
