Everyday neighbors face a multitude of challenges. Families struggle to put food on the table, kids fall behind on reading skills and lack confidence, adults aren’t equipped with the skills to find employment, parents can’t afford high-quality childcare and many of our neighbors don’t have a safe place to call home.
United Way shares that these stories are far too common, but together, we have the power to change them.
“Each of us plays an integral role in creating a healthy, thriving community,” shared Holly Miller, President and CEO of United Way of Midland County. “Your engagement with United Way is a catalyst for positive change, helping to strengthen the fabric of our community for today and generations to come. When we join together, we can transform hardship into hope and rewrite the narrative for thousands of neighbors who need our support.”
As United Way wraps up the tenth week of the community campaign, they are reporting pledges totaling $4,040,576 or 88% of their $4.6 million goal. They are calling on the community to help them reach their goal, ensuring vital programs and services are there for the growing number of people who need help.
“To everyone who has given generously to this year’s campaign, we say thank you,” shared Miller. “We cannot do this work alone and we are so grateful for the outpouring of support we’ve received so far. But we need our community to rally with us now to fill the gap.”
United Way addresses the most pressing health and human services needs in the areas of Youth Success, Health and Household Stability. When you give to United Way, you’re helping to ensure there are vital community programs available for our families, friends, coworkers and neighbors.

“We set a goal to raise $4.6 million to support our neighbors and the programs our partner agencies provide our community,” shared Cathleen Louisignau, Director of Engagement at United Way of Midland County. “We are so grateful for support from our corporations, businesses, individuals, foundations and local nonprofits and we are almost there. We are reaching out to those who haven’t had the opportunity to engage yet this year, encouraging everyone to join in. No gift is too small and when we combine our efforts, we create a ripple effect of lasting, positive change for so many.”
United Way shared that our neighbors are counting on us. Without these vital programs, many folks would not have the help they need during the times in their lives when they need it most. It could be you, a family member, coworker or friend.
United Way’s campaign theme “Together, we can change their story” reflects the collective power we have to make our community better for those around us and ensures they have access to the resources they need to change their story – like the grandma who was connected with food resources for her grandkids, the couple who can keep their home after unexpected medical bills, or the student who finally feels empowered at school and so many others.
