MIDLAND, MI–The United Way of Midland County community campaign saw progress during week five of the campaign. Pledges totaling $3,041,967 have been reported, representing 62% of the overall goal of $4,900,000.
“My friends, each and every one of us have something to offer, that helps another person and works to improve their life,” shared Jim Nigro, 2015 Campaign Chair. ”When we come together, incredible things happen.”
The employees of McKay Press are generous supporters and also lend their expertise donating the printing of campaign materials and other projects throughout the year. They are running a fun and impactful campaign, hosting both a Putt Putt and Basketball competition, and allowing employees to pay $5 to swing a sledgehammer at a retired copier.
Our local retirees have demonstrated their commitment to those in need throughout the years. These generous, community-minded donors have helped shape our unique culture of care for one another and continue to invest in our future. To date, they have pledged an inspiring $406,025.
The folks at Fisher Companies run their campaign in the spring, to ensure all of their employees have the opportunity to participate. They are celebrating incredible results, pledging $44,922, a 20% increase over last year.
The employees of Trinseo are very engaged all year, serving as community volunteers, sponsors and advocates for our community. They are wrapping up a creative and engaging campaign that includes connecting their employees with the impact of their donation through United Way bus tours and guest presenters at coffee breaks in the plant. They are also rolling out United Way bingo, where folks earn bingo cards or purchase them to support United Way. Prizes include gift cards and extra vacation time.
