United Way of Midland County is calling on you to join them in changing lives. As we near the end of 2024, United Way encourages each of us to consider how we can make a difference by investing in vital community programs in the areas of Youth Success, Health and Household Stability.

The 2024 campaign launched earlier this fall with a goal of raising $4.6 million and they are reporting pledges totaling $4,422,749 or 96% of their goal. With over $175,000 left to raise, they are calling on the community to help them cross the finish line, ensuring help is available when our neighbors need it.

United Way shared that most workplace campaigns have wrapped up, with a few continuing through the end of the year. Members First Credit Union wrapped up their campaign, raising $20,000 to make a difference for our neighbors. Deloitte is wrapping up their campaign soon, raising even more than they did the previous year.

Three Rivers Corporation had a successful campaign, raising over $50,000 to impact our community. Our long-standing partners, Valley Electrical Contractors, finished their campaign strong, alongside Dendritech. Garber Chevrolet Midland wrapped up its employee campaign, including a corporate donation to make an even greater impact.

Northwood University brought their campaign to life through our powerful message ‘Together, We Can Change Their Story.’ Through weekly emails, they kept employees connected and inspired, turning simple updates into meaningful contributions to collective impact. Chippewa Nature Center supported this year’s campaign through generous donations from their employees.

Great Lakes Investment Advisors supported the campaign this year by hosting a supply and donation drive to support our neighbors. United Way staffers joined their holiday party to share the impact their organization and clients are making on our community. Serendipity Road supported the campaign this year by engaging their shoppers in a paper LIVE UNITED t-shirt sale. They matched the amount raised to make a greater impact.

Throughout the year, Young Leaders United members spent time learning about issue areas that United Way funding supports including Reading at Grade Level, Support with Finances and Substance Free Resiliency. They also volunteered throughout the year helping to beautify a neighbor’s yard, reading alongside over 100 third-grade students and building life-saving Narcan kits to distribute to local businesses.

To celebrate the impact they generated throughout the year, and to bring warmth to others this holiday season, the Young Leaders Executive committee came together to decorate the dining room and provide a meal for survivors at Shelterhouse.

“We know the holiday season can be challenging for many, especially those who are in shelter for the first time,” shared Katie Bell Pearce, Corporate Relationship Manager at United Way. “Being away from their families, not being able to participate in longstanding traditions, and facing so much uncertainty, we knew this was the group we wanted to pour into this holiday season. I truly believe the best gift is showing someone you care and are thinking of them. Providing this delicious homemade meal says it all. I’m so proud to be among such generous and kindhearted Young Leaders who brought warmth and holiday spirit to those who need it most.”

While United Way has made great progress toward reaching their goal, they are calling on the community to help them cross the finish line and ensure vital programs and services are available for neighbors who need help.

“To everyone who has given generously to this year’s campaign, we say thank you,” shared Holly Miller, President and CEO at United Way. “United Way cannot do this work alone and we are so grateful for the outpouring of support we’ve received so far. But we need our community to rally with us now to fill the gap.”

United Way shared that our neighbors are counting on us. Supporting the annual campaign helps.
