Currently at 92% of the overall $4.5 million goal, United Way is reporting pledges of $4,186,995.

“We’re grateful for the tremendous generosity we’ve experienced in this year’s campaign, but we need your help in closing the remaining gap,” said Jon Lynch, 2019 United Way Campaign Chair. “If you’ve given to United Way in the past, please consider renewing your support. If you’re planning on giving this year, we encourage you to turn in your pledges now to show our community that we’re there for them.”

Although the campaign officially wraps up this week, many organizations continue to actively campaign with amazing results.

Dow continues to lead the way with their giving and volunteer engagement. They set a bold goal of raising $1.6 million this year, through employee and retiree giving. They not only met, but exceeded that goal by 4%, with pledges still coming in. From an online auction and cornhole tournaments to numerous change for change and food events, employees kept the fun factor high. They also hosted five bus tours where employees were able to experience the impact of their investment and seven targeted volunteer events this fall.

“Dow employees, current and retired, donated their time and funds over the past several weeks to help improve lives in our community. I’m humbled by the passion and support they showed during this year’s United Way campaign and continue to display year round,” said Reiner Roghmann, vice president of operations in Canada and U.S. North, site director for Michigan Operations I-Park.

Many organizations throughout the community continue to report strong results. Gavin and Associates increased their generous contributions this year, pledging nearly $28,000. Arbury Insurance increased their giving by a whopping 45%. Midland Cogeneration Venture powered up their annual giving by over 33% and SK Saran inspired employees to increase their giving through special drawings. Running their first-ever campaign, Savant Group has already raised over $6,600.

It was a record year for Northwood University’s campaign, marking a ten year high with a $2,000 increase and 60% more staff participation.

“Northwood University is proud to be a part of our Midland community,” shared Dr. Kent MacDonald, President and CEO of Northwood University. “Based on the Northwood Idea, we hold ourselves accountable for the care and welfare of others, and we are proud to demonstrate this in various ways throughout the year.”

Northwood University also partners with United Way each year to engage as many students, staff and faculty as possible to volunteer in a single day to benefit dozens of community organizations during Go MAD Day. This year’s event was held on November 1st.
