Our caring community donated a record 18,500 pounds of food during the 2012 FEED the NEED Food Drive, more than 4,000 pounds over last year. Sponsors RE/MAX of Midland and The Dow Chemical Company led the way. RE/MAX collected 11,500 pounds and credits the Balloon Festival for bringing extra attention to the effort.
“We set out to fill the shelves of local pantries,” shared Wayne Crosby of RE/MAX. “The incredible response from our community will make all of the difference for family’s right here in Midland County.”
Dow Chemical expanded their food drive and placed collection barrels throughout Michigan Operations, Corporate Headquarters and at the Business Process Services Center.
Dow Corning Corporation and Arnold Center continue to be strong participants. New to the food drive, McKay Press and Family & Children’s Services helped to raise awareness and provide help for families in need.
Hidden Harvest was instrumental in collecting and distributing the food to area pantries, helping to stock the shelves of Care Giving Network, Midland Emergency Food Pantry Network, Midland Christian Church, Railway Family Center and The Salvation Army.
