Our Failing Schools.  Enough is Enough!  Tuesday, July 8th, 11:45am – 1:00pm (start time approximate).

Why, why, why does our education system look so similiar to the way it did 50 years ago?  Millions of students were failing then, as they are now – and it’s because we’re clinging to a business model that clearly doesn’t work.  Education advocate Geoffry Canda dares the system to look at the data, think about the customers and make systematic shifts in order to help greater numbers of kids excel.

The nonprofit TED standing for Technology, Entertainment, Design, offers knowledge and inspiration from the world’s foremost thinkers in video presentations online for free. Their Mission: Spreading Ideas. Join educator Tom Lowrey on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month during lunch to watch a TED talk (typically 10-20 minutes each) and participate in lively discussion about the ideas presented. Call ahead to reserve your spot and register for lunch at 633-3700. Aim to arrive by 11:30am in Trailside and after your table is called, take your lunch into Room 160. Lunches are by donation to those over 60 or $5 for those under 60.
