For Lunchtime Learners programs, aim to arrive by 11:30am in Trailside and after your table is called, take your lunch into Room 160. The talk will begin as close to 11:45am as possible and end by 1:00pm. Space is limited in the room, so please call ahead to reserve your spot and register for lunch at 633-3700. Lunches are by donation to those over 60, or $5 for those under 60.
Pyrotechnics: The Science of Fireworks, Friday, June 9, 11:45am-1:00pm
Join Jim Malek as he discusses our favorite pyrotechnics—fireworks! You’ll learn about types of fireworks, both consumer and commercial, how they work, safety practices and more! Jim will also clarify costs and use of fireworks in compliance with Michigan law. Jim Malek is a Certified Pyrotechnician who has worked professional fireworks shows for over 15 years at events like the Bay City Fireworks Festival, Riverdays in Midland, and Loons baseball games. Jim is a member of the Pyrotechnics Guild International, the National Fireworks Association, and the National Council on Fireworks Safety.
