Diabetes Self-Management Program at Trailside Senior Center

Wednesdays, May 15 – June 19, 1:00 to 3:30pm, Trailside Center, 4700 Dublin Ave in Midland

A Sweet Life is a diabetes self-management program which helps people with diabetes or prediabetes live a full, active life in spite of the limitations caused by the disease. Multiple studies show that six months after the workshop, participants have significant improvements in depression, symptoms of hypoglycemia, communication with physicians, healthy eating, and reading food labels. They also had significant improvements in activity level and self-confidence. At 12 months, participants continue to demonstrate improvements. The workshop is 2½ hours a week for six weeks. People with type 2 diabetes and/or close family members learn current information on diabetes management, make weekly action plans, share experiences, and help each other solve problems in creating and carrying out their plan. Classes are participative, with mutual support and success building the participants’ ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives. Registration is limited so call to reserve a spot with Senior Services at 633-3700. Wondering if this class is for you? Come to a short informational meeting on Wednesday, May 8 at 12:00pm at Trailside.
