Family Caregiver Training, Care 101: Lifting Them Without Injuring You, Wednesday, October 20th, 1:00pm – 3:00pm, Trailside Center, 4700 Dublin Ave, Midland.
Caregivers face numerous new tasks as they begin to provide care, but one that many are least prepared for is how to safely assist a loved one with daily needs such as transferring from one location to another, lifting, assisting with walking, dressing and using the bathroom. Even if your loved one does not require this assistance but has a progressive medical condition that may require such care in the future, this is an excellent opportunity to build your readiness. Health Education Coordinator, Billie Ritter, RN, BSN, MA will lead the class. Billie trains the Home Care staff at Senior Services in these skills and has supervisory experience in this area. Beyond ideas and suggestions to make these tasks easier and safer for both of you, you will get a chance to practice and try your new skills.
