I had the opportunity to volunteer on the Born Learning Trail project as part of United Way’s Day of Action. Over 35 Young Leaders and United Way staff worked together to set the posts, install signs, mulch and paint the path. The Born Learning Trail is an interactive learning experience that promotes physical activity and school readiness. It connects the Fun Zone with the pool at Plymouth Park.

What a rewarding experience. Young Leaders United is made of up a group of very caring and FUN individuals. Any time I have been involved with this group, I make friends and learn something new. I was part of a volunteer team from Dow Chemical’s Public Affairs team. It was great to be able to volunteer with a group of colleagues and it served as a team building exercise.

Volunteering with the United Way is always a great experience. They are well organized, and provide the tools and supplies needed to get the job done. Personally, I was inspired to get involved because the Trail will create a fun and enriching learning environment that young families will enjoy for years to come.

This project is a testament to United Way’s commitment to community education and wellness. My hope is that many children will be able to enjoy the learning games and interactive challenges with their families.
